I would suggest you contact the tourist information centre. They have always been very helpful. details here but they are moving buidlings next week to check the info.

I have stayed at The Langham which was lovely but our room was very high up with no lift so if your DS is little you might want to ask for a lower floor. Mind you it was 14 years ago so they may have lifts now.

I know there are MNetters who live in Weymouth and some holidays there, hopefully they will come along to help with your search.

I stayed in a lovely one on Portland called Turnstones. You could walk to Chesil beach. Not sure how child -friendly it would be though; I remember there being a park nearby.

Thank you. The Langham looks good. I wanted to be in Weymouth but if we can;t find anywhere, Portland would be a good second best. I love Chesil beach. Thanks for the suggestions.

We often stay at Waterside Caravan park too. It near a beach (bowleaze cove) and also have a swimming pool for non beachy days. There is also a regular bus from the site into the centre of weymouth and the sandy beach. Although it is walkable, if you like a longish walk.
