Baby activities & child friendly restaurant in Birmingham

We are going to be in Birmingham for 3 days next week, our hotel is next to New Street (won't have a car). We don't know the place well, and I was hoping to find suitable activities on a shoe-string budget for 2 mums with DD 7 mo and DS 14 mo. SeaLife center sounded good, but a little pricey.
We will also be looking for a baby-friendly restaurant/pub in the evening.
Hope midlands mums can help!

We took DS to the Birmingham Sea Life Center for his 3rd birthday - he loved it. There were quite a few 2 for 1 deals at the time (March) so they might still be running. That area is a great for a day out. Lots to do and lots of places to eat. We took DS and 12 week old DD to Pizza Express and the staff were really nice.

Theres a museum nearby, the canal with ducks to feed and you're not far from a science museum kind of place which sounded good too.

I started a thread at the time to ask for places to eat and got loads of suggestions for other things to do. I'll see if I can find it.

here it is. Have a read through, there were quite a few suggestions of other places to vosot nearby as well as recommendations for good, child friendly places to eat.

Get a bus from the city centre to the Nature Centre - number 47 or 45.

Lots of family friendly places in Brindley Place - Pizza Express, Cafe Rouge etc and more in The Mail Box, a short walk from Brindley Place (both within walking distance of New Street and well sign posted iirc).

There is a soft play area in Kings Heath - bus number 35. Have not been but have a couple of friends who say it's fine. A couple of lovely organic cafes in Kings Heath too.
