Help with ideas for weekend break on way to Butlins

Wonder if anyone has any ideas.
We're off to Butlins in June for a midweek break.
We're heading from Cambridgeshire down to Bognor Regis, so that means basically down the M11, around the east side of the M25 and then down the M23.

It would be nice if we could fit in a little break over the weekend beforehand too - to break up the journey a bit (not that it will be that long, but have a 3 year old and a will-be-7 month old)

I dont really know what I'm thinking of - just somewhere on the way that we can maybe book a cheap cottage and has activities/theme park/etc suitable for toddler nearby. I mean it doesnt have to be a cottage, we can do travelodge if necessary.

Does anything spring to mind on that route?

hi we are going from norfolk to bognor next weekend so basically taking same route as you! We are staying in the travellodge by lakeside to break up the journey it may not be that friendly for my 2 dc aged 4 and 1 but i get to do some shopping for the day and there is more than enough for them at butlins for you to have a day for yourself before you arrive
