My brother is having his 40th in Cornwall of all places (you can tell from my name I am not from them thar parts!) and has booked my Mum and Dad, him and his wife and me, DH and our 3 kids into the St Enodoc Hotel in Rock for a few nights (before you start swooning...he isnt paying for it, mores the bloody pity).

He has asked me to see if I can find somewhere for either lunch or dinner on the Sunday where we can all go out together (we are having an adults only celebration on the Sat night) and I have absolutely no ideas...

My DCs are 5, 5 and 3 and are (fairly) well-behaved! Does anyone know of anywhere, pub or restaurant that is in teh Rock area or within say an hours drive that you know of or frequent yourself that would fit our plans?

Thanks in advance to any Cornish mumsnetters who can help!

round the corner at Polzeath there is the Oystercatcher for pub grub (but nice and always lots of v well behaved posh families in there).

Or catch the ferry over to Padstow - frequent and good fun, only 10mins - and lots of choice: The Ship a good one, or the Customs House/ Harbour Inn...have a look at them online and see what you think. Not sure if it's open at Lunch this time of year but Rojano's in Padstow does ace italian in a v laid-back but nice atmosphere - we go a lot (embarrassed fat emoticon) with our son.

enjoy yourself!

2nd vote for the Oystercatcher - it is a lovely atmosphere and kids are well looked after too. You will love it.

Another vote for the Oystercatcher. And after eating you can stroll down the hill and walk your lunch off on Polzeath beach. I would be of your hols as that part of Cornwall is my favourite place in the world but I'm off there myself in two weeks time

wow sounds like the Oystercatcher is the place to go! Thanks all!

The only other pub I tend to frequent when in those parts is The Fourways Inn in St Minver.

There is a room with tables and benches as you walk through the front door where you can eat with children, but I don't think they let children in the main pub/bar area - although they might for Sunday lunch, worth phoning and asking.

It's good pub grub (if the chilli con carne is on the menu then have it, it is AMAZING - I've been veggie since I was 11 but always swipe a mouthful of DH's), friendly landlord and very good beer.
