I've never been to Wales but found a lovely looking place here. Anyone been to Conwy? (No idea how to even pronounce it!) And can anyone tell me what it's like? It looks lovely online but would like some personal opinions.

I'm looking to book for August and going to assume the weather may not be the best (but DH refuses to get on a plane this year with the kids and baby!!)...is there enough to do?

Thanks in advance

I live in Conwy and do holiday rentals there. It's a lovely medieval town with 13th century castle with the Smallest House in the UK on the quayside. Lots of restaurants, pubs and tea rooms. Great base for touring North Wales as Llandudno, Snowdonia and Anglesey close by. For children Greenwood Forest Park near Bangor will keep the kids occupied. Great beaches all the way along the coast. It's pronounced Conway by the way. Hope this helps.

I love Conwy. It's a great town and as Conwy herself says, there's loads to do. The beaches are particularly nice

Conwy is lovely. There's a great deli to get a picnic lunch from. Loads to do around that area for kids.

Loads to do with small children, even if the weather is bad. We used to go there a lot. Colwyn bay zoo is lovely, also Conwy and Carnarfon castles, and Boddlewyddn castle has lots of interactive things for small children - old photo machine and room of nursery toys. and the mines in Llandudno which you can go down wearing a hard hat.

Go up the tram car thing to the top of the Great orme in Llandudno. There is a good big play park at the top and a formica-tabled caff. Great views.

We went to the Llechwedd (sp?) mines and that was a good trip (cold - dress warm).
