Calling all mumsnet travel gurus! We are a bunch of mums and several of us are 40 this year. Based in Scotland looking for a weekend away somewhere in the UK in
September. We like drinking, eating, shopping and spas (God, how shallow do we sound? Yet all of this is unashamedly true!). Don't want to spend stupid money but would like to do something special and nice. There are 7-10 of us wishing to go away. Bath and Brighton have been mentioned but we have no real idea of where to go.
Would consider self catering or hotel.

Any suggestions most gratefully received

Any idea of budget?

spub · 21/01/2010 20:49

Aah, very perceptive question,hf. This is probably why I'm crap at this stuff! £250 to max £400 per person but less would be good, obviously.

Would that be for everything or just accommodation?

What about center parcs? They have spas and restaurants.

spub · 21/01/2010 21:07

Hi, £400 would probably need to cover everything. If we needed to go £50 more each for something awesome then we'd consider it!!
Juney, I know what you mean re Center parcs and certainly wouldn't discount it but most of us have been there with dh's and kids so would maybe fancy something a bit different (and poss less family oriented!)

This is nice in Bath

I see they have a 50% sale at the moment - but only up until 8 March. You could always try phoning.

I will keep thinking.

We have this place in Exmoor National Park, large house self catering. In a lovely village with pubs, restaurants, walks, cycle hire, places of interest. Upmarket dining a short taxi away, or we can recommend chefs to come to the house. www.the-cleeve.co.uk. Mention Mumnset for a 5% discount.
