Is £850 expensive fro a week in school holidays?

I want a cottage in the UK in the school holidays and have seen a fantastic one but it's £850! Is this very expensive? I've never gone on holiday in August before so don't really know how prices compare.... basically, I want to justify myself spending the money on it

Sounds about right, but depends on location, size etc etc. Where I normally go in Northumberland prices vary from the vary reasonable £560 to the rather extravagent £1200 or more for a three bed cottage near the coast...so I'd say £850 is probably quite standard.

hanks, elliott. I have found some cheaper options but this one is so much nicer! We should be saving money at the moment but I do want a nice holiday too...

We always go to Mull and paid about £500 for a nice 3 bed. This year we are taking family and are going for a sleeps 9 people 4 bed and it's £850 a week.

It's the usual story - you get what you pay for! You can find somewhere in the school holidays for half that price but it won't have been decorated since 1975 and will have a mouldy old bathroom and a kitchen that looks like a council house reject!

I think you'd be hard pressed to find one for half that price in August tbh. What did you decide? Where is it and how big?

Sounds quite cheap to me for something in August. I'm looking for something to sleep 6 and everything I have seen is £1000+

elliott - we have stayed in a 6-bed cottage right by the harbour in Padstow for £375 per week - but basic!

Sounds pretty cheap to me - the last week of August (bank holiday weekend) can often be cheaper, depending on when schools go back.
