We have 2 kids under 3 and 2 dogs and as you imagine usually go self catering on holiday. We have a week off at the end of feb and for once I fancy a couple of nights in a hotel. Has anyone ever stayed anywhere suitable for young kids and dog friendly? Ideally would like some sort of babysitting service so that we could have a meal in the restaurant. After searching the internet I'm beginning to think that I should forget the idea all together but wonder if anyone has any great ideas? Thanks.

You can check dog-friendly listings here and then check the individual listings to see which are also child-friendly.

You can take your dog to Babbington House and they do have babysitters. Not cheap though.

You can take dogs to Fowey Hall in Cornwall.

GhoulsAreLoud · 30/11/2009 17:03

Can you take dogs to Centreparcs then?

The only hotel we've stayed in with the dog is the Travelodge, doubt you'll fancy that!

Yes I think you can but only in certain villas and for an extra charge.

Yeah travelodge let you take up to 2 dogs.

I think we might go to centerparcs next year, didn't realise they had dog lodges.

A lot of the really nice hotels will let you take dogs, but don't advertise the fact! If you find a few that offer the babysitting that you need and then phone them up and ask about dogs, many will. I think they don't advertise it, as it may put people without dogs off!

Bath Priory which is v v posh lets you take dogs.

I didn't find it overly welcoming of kids though.

Thanks everyone. We've given in and gone for a self-catering cottage again, seems that hotels are possible with dogs and kids but have decided that it would still be hard to relax!

Try the Hotel California, on the Cornish north coast, at Pentire, it overlooks the lovely National Trust beach, Crantock, they have family rooms, and positively welcome both children and dogs, our dogs love it there, and the family too. I recommend it.

Hi. I am desperate for a lovely relaxing few days away at half term. I am looking for a fab hotel, great restaurant, kids club and pool within about 3 hours from London and would be so grateful for any recommendations!
