Ok, so its my birthday 4 days after xmas, and I have decided that this year is going to be different

Every fecking year is the same - nobody is arse, everyone else is away, no babysitter, so trail around the shops then a nice lunch.

Would love to go away for a couple of nights inbetween xmas and new year (not necessarily borthday) - dh, ds(2.5) and I - somewhere nice, chilled out - stuff to do with ds, not too far from Glasgow (couple of hours?), not £££££££ but happy to pay a rasonable amount for something nice - any ideas?

Hi Geordieminx, we just had a weekend here

www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/houstounhouse/

It has a lovely big pool which is great for a toddler with water wings on and great big grounds including a tennis court if DS wants to run around and let off steam.
Oh and you can get treatments too

Edinburgh is lovely at that time of year loads of great hotels on Late Rooms

Ooo havent been to Houston House - have been to the Macdonald over in North Berwick, and had a lovely weekend in Aberfoyle, so will have a look at that thanks.

Did think about Edinburgh..

Was thinking somewhere more country-esque but probably better with somewhere like Edinburgh as if we are stuck in the middle of nowhere when if the weather is crap then it will not be a fun time.

Ideally it would be beautiful weather and we could go to the Lakes, don warm coats and be at 1 with nature (PMSL) but in reality the weather will be minging.

I know some people who stayed at the MacDonald in aviemore recently and enjoyed that with young children.

The MacDonald Aviemore is next on our list! Looks great.

Must admit i love Crieff hydro, good play areas (both inside and out) my kids love the kids Club and they do an evening Creche til 9.30 if you want adult time and best of all you get 6 hours free childcare a day! Lots to do too.
