Am about to book for next December for a week at Longleat. I am still not sure about which lodge as the new style lodge can only be booked in the Fir Area which is the furthest away. You can get woodland and original style lodges in the central area. There will be me, hubby and 3 year old. In the past we have hired bikes at Sherwood but dont know if I will be able to cycle at Longleat. Is it really that hilly?

You can only get new style executive in Fir?
Are you sure that's right... certainly whenever I've booked an Exec 1 Bed, they have always been in Pine. Is it due to there being so many advance booking already... or villa size? Maybe they are very busy already for the particular week you are looking, thus limited choice.

Cycling at Longleat is perfectly viable... even if you do end up in Fir area (think the executives are around the 473-488 area so are only just in Fir). It's just a bit of a trek for your 3 year old. Much easier if you get a place in Pine, as less distance to Plaza and you can cycle down the Boardwalk to get to Sports & Timeout Club area plus main playground. In staying in a villa in that part of Fir in mid-December this year, with several under 5's... so I will tell you how much hassle we have being in that location.

What size exec are you trying to get? Do you need it to be exec... would a Woodland in Pine be an option? What arrival date are you looking at 20th?

Looking at the CenterParcs website, based on 20th Dec 2010 arrival date, 2 Bed. I'd pay the extra to get the Woodland in Pine, if you are intending to use the swimming pool most of the time, or practice cycling. If you will be mostly using the Sports Centre and AquaSana (can't take your 3 year old there) then Fir is fine as could walk down the hill.
