Taking baby for a weekend but dont know anything about Birmingham, what area should I be looking in?
convenient for the centre but not too rough/noisy

not too rough round the edges but not 5 star either, Roughly premier inn standards (or a premier inn in a good area) Or a nice B&B

thanks

hi, we stayed in the crown plaza a few years ago, just at the bottom of broad street. it was far enough away from the pubs and clubs for noise but were on our doorstep iykwim. was close to the shopping and new st station too.

Ibis Birmingham City Centre is a great location but due to its central/convenient location - walk 5 mins across the road to the Bullring/Selfridges, it may not be the most tranquil of spots BUT loads of restaurant choices & easy for OH to escape back to the hotel for a baby nap whilst you carry on shopping! It's definitely Premier Inn price range. HTH.

hi, thanks for the replies so far!
bit more info, not looking for the cheapest necessarily, would like to stay somewhere nice but convenient - dont need (or necessarily want) to be bang in the thick of things

really dont wanna be staying in a hen/stag hotel

any nice little boutique places or b&bs

like the look of nitenite but not suitable for babies I think (just because of the design of the rooms - I dont like co-sleeping)

i've stayed 2 x in malmaison there. once we had a double double room which was massive- could easily hav travel cot in. was lovely! It's in the mailbox shopping centre - there are loads of restuarents up behind it. Tip-have your brekkie in the cafe up in the mailbox much cheaper than in Mal!

don't go for ibis then. Tis v reasonable but central but sorta place we used to stop in after night out rather than get taxi home

you would prob be better off looking at the hotels on hagley rd /edgbaston (B15)

look on late rooms

hotel du vin would be my recommendation if you could get on a cheapy. Its v lovely. Tis in city but other side to all the lairyness

I'd vote for Malmaison too - right on top of Harvey Nicks - I loved it!

Malmaison or Hotel Du Vin are the nicest (but way above Premier Inn standards/prices)

The Ramada in Mailbox is in a great area (not noisy or remotely rough) and should be a reasonable price Pg0.asphere

thanks to everyone who posted! I've booked Malmaison and am really looking forward to it! think the location might be a bit dangerous though for a shopaholic like me!!!
