london underground; can i manage with a 4 month old?

I need to cross london with my 4 month old (euston to victoria) and am a bit worried about the tube - anyone tried it / got any helpful tips / wouldn't recommend it in a million years?

Baby in a sling. As few bags as possible, but make any you do take rucksacks.

Best if you can manage without pram/buggy if poss but don't worry if not - hopefully some kind person will help you up/down steps

It's not that far really, you can definitely do it!

As others have said, take baby in sling if possible.

If you have luggage/pushchair you can look on the transport for london website and see if your stations have lifts.

Oh, and try to avoid peak hour if you can!

If you're not pushed for time, use buses instead. They always have a buggy space and are much cheaper, and no stairs/lifts etc!

Use the TFL site to find out which buses go your way.

It's the 73 bus that goes from Euston to Victoria. Very easy, but not desperately fast. As others have said, avoid rush hour if at all possible.

Yes, you can - I used to do it a lot with DD and the sling wa a godsend.

Seriously I do it the other way and always get the 73, it takes longer but is so much easier. No lifts at Victoria or Euston, both packed stations. Have done it with baby in sling and that was fine, but with a pushchair, always opt for the bus.
If you're continuing on to Bromley, pop in!

Its an easy journy - not many stops all on one tube line. And as you are travelling between two major mainline stations then I'd bet they have lifts for puschairs and wheelchair users.

I used to hate taking buggies on the tube. There are just so many steps and it is horrid taking them down escalators. If you can't use a sling I would definitely consider the bus, but it will take about an hour.

With a sling, it will be fine. I went from Lewisham to Kings Cross with my 4mo in a sling and it was no problem

I went from Paddington to the passport office at Victoria when dd was 7wks and it was a lot easier to leave time to stroll across the parks with the pram than worry about getting on and off tubes and/or buses.

Don't get the bus...it takes AGES - the tube journey is less than 10 mins. Someone will help you - I always get offered help. Ask the tube staff for assistance if not. bon voyage

thanks for all your advice - tried it with teh bus in teh end (73) and it was GREAT! baby in sling, rucksack and handbag, it was doable. Was not impressed with Virgin trains though, no changing facilities on board. shocking.
