Weymouth - Please tell me all about it!!

We are looking to go away for a week towards the end of Sept and think we have settled on Weymouth. Party consists of me, DP, DS (18 mths) and DIL's (and their dog). We're a varied bunch so any suggestions of fun things to do/places to see would be great. None of us have ever been to this part of the UK!

Also, we are hoping to get some self-catering accomodation, so if anyone has any recommendations they would be much appreciated!

Weymouth is great! We stayed in a caravan a few years back and had a brilliant time - Haven holidays. They have a variety of different caravans and also camping. There are two sites that connect via a short walk and you can use the facilities of both - can't remember one of them but think the other was called Seaview. Weymouth has a traditional seaside feel, lots of touristy shops on seafront, sandy beach, boat trips etc. There is a really nice animal park/adventure playground too but can't remember the name, sorry!

I love Weymouth.

Lulworth cove and Portland bill are worth a visit.

Not sure about places to stay, we camped last time we went.
