Where can we go for 2-3 nights at new year?

Our neighbours have a loud party every year so we really want to escape, but not for a whole week. Preferably not a hotel either! Anyone know of any cottages or other ideas? (oh and not in the southwest, it takes us foreever and a day to get there!) thanks!

Some cottage sites do seem to offer sjort breaks , booking nearer the time - national trust have a 4 night minimum - We're in London so I guess lakes a bit too far though I love love it there in winter.
