Any frequent travellers from north west to Dover?

Can anyone recommend the best way to get there? I'm travelling from South Manchester and have done several route planners and have got several different routes!

Which is the best (fastest) way. I'm thinking of doing : -

M6 - M42 - M1 - and then taking the M25 clockwise - M2.

But AA route map is saying

M6 - M40 - M25.

Can't work out what would be best, setting out early Sat morning.

Please help

definitely M6 - M40 - M25!! Believe me I have done it both ways!! Take the toll road above Birmingham it will gain you a bit of time in case you get stuck on M25.
