Suggestions for things to do around Bosinver

We are off to Bosinver in September and am thinking ahead for activities/days out/places to go to lunch. We have toddler and a baby so will need toddler friendly places to go and dont want to do too much driving.

Was thinking about Lost Gardens of Heligan and maybe a day out in Mevigissey.

Anyone been recently who has any suggestions?

Eden Project (dc preferred it to Heligan) , Gorran Haven is a nice child friendly beach, Fowey is also good for a short visit, you can sit by the quay with food or ice cream. There is an animal place on the way to Newquay (Dairyland ?) and an Aquarium there if the weather is bad (expensive and not that big). In our cottage (Pear) there was a book of suggestions and comments from past visitors with places to eat etc and lots of beach stuff (nets, spades etc) could be borrowed from the main office.

Thanks LIZS. Is there much to do if you stay onsite. As we have a 3 month old baby we were thinking maybe some days we would just chill out at the cottage.

There is a fair bit - indoor soft play, outdoor pool, small play area and walks down to the lake to fish (you can borrow rods) and of course feeding the animals and collecting eggs first thing. You can also walk down to the local village but is a fair distance along a muddy track.

I went a couple of years ago with 4 yr old dd and tbh didn't need to leave site! Outdoor trampoline,and pool is heated so still great for swimming in september. We got to use it in october!!

We stayed at Bosinver last month and had a lovely time. Lots to do on-site so you should be ok for lazy days around your cottage. We also went "here" though as well as my boys (4 and 2) are mad about trains and we had a really wonderful day. It's about a 30 min drive away from Bosinver. Have fun.

We've been a few times. We usually head over to Padstow for Rick Stein's fish and chips and a wander round the shops. Last time we went to Fifteen at Watergate Bay, which was disappointing.

We've been to the Eden Project several times, and love it there. I second the Gorran Haven suggestion, btw! Caerhayes Beach is also quite lovely.

If you are National Trust members then Llanrhydock isn't a bad day out. We had a great time celeb spotting in Fowey as they were filming 3 Men in a Boat.

We're also going to Bosinver in September. We're off on the 19th and staying in Laburnum, so if you are there that week perhaps our toddlers can entertain each other? The soft play barn there is lovely on rainy days, and animal feeding takes up most of the morning.

We've spend afternoons toddling around the lake at toddler speed. Pat and Dave who own Bosinver always have lots of great ideas too.

We stayed in Laburnum too llareggub. We were there this time last month - so brilliant being able to make a dash from the pool to the front door without a towel. I want to go back!

All these replies have got me really looking forward to Bosinver now.

Thanks DB for the Lappa Valley link. Am definitely going to go there - it looks like a lovely day out.

Llareggub - fish & chips at Padstow sounds good too! I did think about fifteen but it did not look all that child friendly and read a very average review of it in one of the weekend mags.

We are going to be there the same week as you. I have got a 2.5yr old DD who I am sure would love to play with your toddlers!

We didn't enjoy fifteen at all. However the child menu was really good and DS (2.10) loved his meal. Shame about ours, but we had a lovely time on the beach. If we go again we'll go for breakfast in the diner downstairs.

We're definitely going to go to Lappa Valley.

My youngest son is 3 months old so will be 5 months when we go, so sounds like the children are the same age. I shall probably see you at animal feeding on the 20th September, isn't that odd?
