Its our 10th wedding anniverary in a fortnight, and we have just decided to go away for the night!

Can anyone recommend a gorgeous, luxury hotel, not a million miles from London (2hours ish max)

Thanks!

We stayed at Hotel Du Vin in Tunbridge Wells a couple of years ago and it was lurverly!

This is a good website for boutique hotels too. Have fun!

The Grove?
Vineyard at Stockcross?

Ooh thanks!

Have been looking at the Hotel du Vin today, but the Winchester one.

Will check out suggestions now!

Pennyhill Park in Surrey here - it has a fab spa!

Cannot recommend the Vineyard at Stockcross - stayed there recently. Very slow service at dinner. Rooms ok but not what I expected from a 5 star hotel. Nowhere near as nice as Pennyhill Park.

avisford park. its a Hilton but beautiful and peacefull in the gorgeous town of Arundel

Mmm. the Grove looks lovely......sadly out of budget for us!

Could be tempted by the Vineyard though!!!

Am very excited as assumed we were doing nothing as DH is redundant at moment, but he informed me he would find the money as its essential

I like this one.

This place is lovely

The spa at the Vineyard is basically a pool - which was cold and had 2 daddy-long-legs floating in it! And that is it. I had a treatment which was lovely - but they only have 2 treatment rooms and these are not in the same area as the pool - so you have to either traipse through the hotel in your dressing gown or go to the treatment rooms dressed and get changed there.

There are no grounds at the Vineyard so not the kind of place that you can go for a nice wander round after breakfast.

I really would not rate it!

MarmMummy · 11/07/2009 20:52

Blimey, this is confusing!

Sam - thanks for that, will strike off list

Lucky Winner - looks stunning, but some very poor reviews on trip advisor

Turtle - they have Argentinian Feast night on the date we want to go..... not quite the romantic meal for 2 we had in mind!

Right, off to look at Mr and Mrs Smith site properly now!

Thanks! Keep em coming!

I've stayed there a few times (although not in the past 3 years) and its always been lovely.

Their sister hotel Bailiffscourt is also v nice.
Hope you have a lovely time though wherever you go!
