Canoeing in Conwy, North Wales

We're staying in an NT cottage near Conwy Falls/Gwydyr Forest Park in North Wales with our 2.9yr DS. We have a 2.5 man inflatable canoe which we've been using at weekends for the past few months on the Thames (what fun!) and we'd like to take it with us on holiday.

Has anyone been canoeing with their own boat in North Wales? Can you please recommend any scenic, calm water? Do we have to have an additional boat licence for Wales?

Many thanks!!

There is a river in Conway but seems pretty fast flowing.
?Bala lake.
Have seen sea canoeists at Porth Darfach on Anglesey.
Sorry I can't be of more use!

Thanks for replying, Serin. Yes, I'd seem Bala Lake on the map and wondered if it would be suitable. I'll take a look.

Would like to know of people's experiences, particularly as we have such a precious cargo on board!
