Try Elton Old Hall www.eltonoldhall.info near Bakewell for 14 plus babies, in a lovely village with park, even a tennis court. Children's quiz walk around the village which our children loved & even an Elton Guide Book of Walks (we walked to Bakewell). They breed race horses in Elton so you see them riding the horses down the main lane through the kitchen window!
We only left the village once as the Hall had everything you could imagine and everyone had a great time, grandparents, us & the children 0 to 12.
Briefly, it had a huge oak table for everyone to eat at and they even supplied 2 Tripp Trapp chairs - one with and one without the baby set.
It has seating for everyone in the main lounge which had a DVD collection, book library, Sky but we enjoyed playing the board games as night including Derbyshire monopoly
The 5 to 12yr olds liked the seperate lounge , the grandparents wouldnt budge from the conservatory which sits out into the walled garden with lovely views.
I loved soaking in our ensuite bath as the bathroom had exposed stone walls. Every bedroom was different and we had the sleigh bed, our friends bagged the four poster.
It was pristine with lots of old features but "fresh" and light inside and no fussy ornaments - so the children couldn't break anything!
The garden has a "secret play area" which you enter through an archway which had a playhouse & trampoline & children's table & chairs - they loved this.
It just opened this Easter and they have some availability this Summer as we now get their newsletter as we plan to go back next Summer for a week.
The owner, Juliet, is lovely and thinks of everything (emergency baby wipes & nappy sacks!). They even had plug socket covers & a night light which was a first for us and we have stayed at lots of places incl. Rural Retreats (7 times) but this place was just perfect, we didnt have to worry about the children & they had lots to do! So we could do lots too!
