Autumn mini break between Leeds and Bath-where?!

Looking for organise an autumn mini-break with some friends plus toddler (probably cottage somewhere), geographically needs to be between Leeds and Bath, any ideas? Wales? So many locations to think about! TIA

Chester? has lots to do but not sure if you would get a cottage, tends to be all hotels.

Abersoch is great in the summer but might be a bit bleak in Oct/Nov.

Ironbridge? has got RAF Cosford close by too.

Snowdonia? Hoseasons do cottages I think.

We just stayed here and it was fantastic. Cottage not too expensive and nice with good back yard area. Aberaeron is fab - really nice town. And New Quay is about 10 mins away and has a great beach.

It was really nice. And if you can get time off from the kids (we took turns) there's a fab boutique hotel called The Harbourmaster with a really great bar and restaurant.
