What to do on the way to East Midlands Airport

We're going on holiday from there in the summer. We have a 5hr drive down and are staying at the airport before we fly out. I thought if we left earlyish in the morning, we could stop somewhere for a few hours to let DS play somewhere. Are there any theme parks on the way?. The route planner says to go down the M6.

Advisable to book first...otherwise it can be a VERY long wait!

OK down the M6 might not be the best route - where are you coming from. If from north of Manchester then CadburyWorld would be a bit out of your way.
