Done to death, I'm sure, but my archive search isn't working.

anyhow, it's our first trip to North Wales. What's worth doing there (DD is 2)? Best beaches? And most importantly, where's good to eat? Child-friendly not required, as luckily DD will tolerate a proper grown up setting pretty easily. I'd also be keen on finding out about any good local food markets.

We're heading back there soon, had a fantastic holiday near Pwllheli 3 years ago. There are loads of nice beaches, one called Whistling sands was especially lovely with a nearby cliff top walk (although maybe not the most sensible type of walk with a 2 year old.....). Also the Ty Coch www.tycoch.co.uk/index.htm pub is right on the beach at Porth Dinllaen. There was a Spar supermarket in Pwllheli which sold a lot of good local produce especially meat & seafood, hopefully it hasn't suffered too much as an Asda was about to open nearby. There were some decent cafes though we did mainly picnics.

Porthmadog is worth a visit, but can get very busy with visitors. Portmerion is nearby and definately worth a vist - you can get to a nice strech of estuary there too. On the Lleyn Aberdaron is quaint.

Lots of walks in Snowdonia. Llyn Idwal is a fairly easy one with good paths. Tryfan is a challenging mountain walk, but do-able as long as well equipped. Llanberis has lots of tourist attractions and lovely lakeside setting. Also can get the (rather pricey) train up Snowdon from here.

For a kids day out I'd recommend GreenWood Forest Park.

Tudweillog (sp?...really I haven't a clue) is lovely

& isn't there a nice walk on a golf club out to see seals? (or am I misremembering?)

Nefven beach is nice & I liked Morfa nefven

I loved Llanberis, so pretty, but was young, single and youth hostelling it in those days...

thanks for those lovely ideas. I'm getting quite excited now (don't get out much).
