Definately take sandwiches. It's the 'done' thing.

bottletopbill · 21/05/2009 14:01

The website says there is a roastissrie, carvery, sandwiche bar etc... sounded ok I was expecting nuggets and chips so was quite impressed when i saw these

Picnic. We went to the one that did fish and chips. Yeurch!

Can the hotel supply lunchbags?

bottletopbill · 21/05/2009 14:07

Not sure - Gosh you are all putting me off now!!! We are going straight there on the first day - so can take sandwishes, etc...

But was thinking about the next 2 days - is there a sandwiche place or M & S nearby I could perhaps go to before we go in?

If you have kids meals, they're pretty generous and would do for an adult, and as they include a drink, make it more reasonably priced. Adults meals are near twice the price of a kid's meal, and don't come with a drink.

Personally I don't think the food is as bad as people make out. Not gourmet, but chain restaurant quality. I quite like the pasta (although they overcook it a bit).

Fimbo · 21/05/2009 14:10

Haven't a clue how far from civilisation it is, but there is bound to be a garage with a shop nearby.

ThingOne · 21/05/2009 14:41

We went to the roasty place and it was truly shit. I had a salmon dish which was vile and over salted. There was a nutrition chart on the wall which I sadly saw after the event. More than 1g of salt in it. Bleurgh. The cheeky beggars were advertising it as some kind of healthy option as it was low fat.

Definitely a place for a picnic.

squeaver · 21/05/2009 14:46

Actually the pasta's ok.

But you are near Windsor so surely you can go to M&S there.

nannynick · 23/05/2009 14:56

If you had to eat in one of them... then the City Walk (Pasta, Pizza) is the best in my view... though personally we just take a packed lunch and eat it in that restaurant (as there is the Harbour Side Coffee located in the same place).

There is an M&S with Food dept and a Waitrose in Windsor town centre. There is a large Tesco in Slough, and in Dedworth (west Windsor) plus a Tesco in Warfield, Bracknell. There is also an ASDA not far from the M4 Junction 6. Ascot has a Budgens.

Interactive map of Supermarkets, with opening times. Zoom out on the map and scroll around to find Supermarkets in the area.

Was at Legoland yesterday and had coffee from the machine at City Walk - big mistake, was not great. Hot Chocolate has gone downhill this season as well. So I'd suggest you only consider hot drinks from Harbourside Coffee, not from any other place.

Depending on where you are travelling from/staying, you will find that local bakers will often do sandwiches. For example, if in Ascot area... then Ann Marie Patisserie in Ascot and Sunninghill.

There is also a Sandwich shop in Debworth Road (about 0.8 miles from Legoland) map Munch4Lunch - 01753868413 - Maybe wise to call them to confirm opening hours.
