escaping for a child free night - need recommendations for hotel/B&B and restaurant - Hampshire, West Sussex, Wiltshire

anywhere within about an hour of Southampton really. We would like either a country-ish pub with rooms where we can get a good meal or a hotel somewhere with restaurants nearby.

Any ideas? We were thinking Salisbury,Chichester or Arundel but would prefer to go somewhere with a personal recommendation rather than just sticking a pin in the internet...
