Any recommendations ? Son is 6 and quite outdoorsy so up for anything, loves idea of climbing a mountain !It will just be him and me, Dp looking after 2 yr old back in bolton so could do with it not being too off beaten track ! thanks, louise

catbells.
ideal for that age.
you can include a couple of boat trips into the day.

I agree with NGDB, catbells isn't a "big" mountain, but for an active 6 yr old, I'd say it was perfect. There is limited parking at catbells now (I thionk double yellows have been introduced) so be warned-get there EARLY. Alternative is a smnaller hill. If you go to: www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=327020&Y=524342&A=Y&Z=120 to the right of the arrow there's a smaller hill called latrigg. you take same route up & down, and quite a bit of woodland walkingm,b ut once at the top, there are some really good views-better for a damper day. You could walk from town centre-but the road is the road you take from the swimming pool.

Even if you don't get to the top of Catbells, you can get to the top of the first mound - often called "Kittenbells".

Oh I LOVE Keswick. Don't tend to do walks though so can't help... but enjoy your hol!
