It's only for one night. Not the whole week for £100!

Ermmmm... there's the Lancaster Hall Hotel - on quiet road next to Kensington Gardens and close to Paddington. Good to get about from here, very central.

have you tried lastminute.com and laterooms.com

lynniep · 13/05/2009 17:42

well it depends. do you want a 'nice' one or will a travelodge do?

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 13/05/2009 17:49

Yes tried both lastminute and laterooms. The problem is it's for next thursdays.

all the novotels and travel lodges are booked up.

georgiemum thanks for that suggestion but it's the first time DH and me have had a night away from DS and I'm kinda hoping for a double bed!

ah the travel lodge in covent garden is £99 and they do have a room. thanks lynniep, however if anyone knows any less generic ones that would be fab as well.

what about ibis or premier inn? I'm afraid I dont know of any less generic ones that are cheap unless you stay in kings cross. and they arent that great. but not far from centre.

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 13/05/2009 18:33

I'm on lastminute and I think I've guessed which one of their surprise hotels are, there not being that many fab and funky hotels in Bermondsy. Do you think if I rang the hotel direct they might go even lower than lastminute? (It's £119 on lastminute) How much cut do yuo think lastminute takes?

georgiemum · 13/05/2009 21:41

I wouldn't go to Bermondsey. Try checking the hotels websites for special offers.

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 13/05/2009 21:47

lol, it's not that bad I know the area quite well. Will continue checking other places tho. thanks for your help.

I worked with a girl who lived there... she said it was a bit scary!

bottletopbill · 13/05/2009 21:50

The Kingsway Hall Hotel is in Covent Garden and we always say there. The hotel is lovely and is always on laterooms.com or wotif.com

LupusinaLlamasuit · 13/05/2009 21:54

If I were in your position, I'd be ringing round some nice ones and bartering them against each other.

Are you a public sector worker? If so, the Goodenough Club might have a room for around that amount (part of London University and pretty OK) - in Bloomsbury so not exactly where you want but nowhere's very far in Central London is it?

bottletopbill · 13/05/2009 21:59

Just had an email from Park Plaa they have some fab offers

macherie · 13/05/2009 22:08

We stayed at Premier Inn County Hall and thought it was fab, not the lap of luxury, but the location is unbeatable

Tinker · 13/05/2009 22:11

If you have civil service or military service links try the Union Jack Club opposite Waterloo station. Not as scary as it sounds.

basementbear · 13/05/2009 22:16

Agree with macherie, my sis has stayed at the county hall premier inn. Also, travel lodge/premier inn type places at tower hill. There are several cheapish places close to me in Victoria - Days Inn Belgrave Road is fine and not too expensive, my parents have stayed there. Also try the Comfort Inns

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 14/05/2009 09:31

thanks the county hall is £119.

bottletop just checked the Park Plaza and it's £150+++

Unfort not civil service/public/military.
