Thinking of spending 2 days in the Lakes with DS1 who is 6. I will be on my own as DH cannot get time off work and DS2 will be in nursery ! We live in the North West so don't have that far to travel there.
Any places to visit / walks to recommend would be gratefully received !! DS is quite active - likes walks, riding his bike, adventure playgrounds and the odd stately home/museum. We just don't want to end up spending lots of time stuck in the car so any advice about where to base ourselves would be helpful too. Thanks in advance.

here has a nice playground and some paths.

There is a nice walk up Brantfell starting in Bowness, and also a fab walk where you catch the ferry over the Lake and walk round Far Sawrey then back over on the ferry. There's also the Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness.

Have a great time.
