Does anyone live in or near Lincoln or know it well?

Me and my DH are going to Lincoln in May - to do with his work. I'm trying to find somewhere lovely to stay for this rare night away from DD and DS..and also somewhere lovely for dinner. Any thoughts? We're happy to spend a bit of money. Charlotte House Hotel is all booked. We can stay somewhere within half hour drive of Lincoln too.

Anywhere up the top end - ie Bailgate is lovely - right next to Cathedral/Castle
Grew up around the area but not stayed anywhere - sorry!
Petwood Hotel - Woodhall Spa
Magpie Restaurant - Horncastle

The White Hart is the hotel in Lincoln, its where Tom Hanks and other film stars stay when filming, right next to the cathedral. I stayed a night there after my wedding and its very nice.

Minster Lodge is close to the cathedral and is meant to be very nice.

Friends have stayed at the Disney Place Hotel and said its lovely - also close to the cathedral.
