Cardiff - or more specifically Cardiff Youth Hostel

is it near a leisure centre? how near? and am i correct in thinking it is straightforward to get to by bus from the city centre?

According to the info on the YHA website the hostel is situated near Roath Park - a short bus ride into the city centre. Not sure about leisure centres nearby though.

You can get a bus from St marys Street in the city centre to Roath. If travelling by rail its literally out of the station, walk over the piazza type paving and turn left then when at end of road you turn left. Really easy to get around by bus,

When I was visting a friend I arrived at 730am in the city for the first time and found bus by asking the first bus driver I saw what number I needed and then found her house all by myself!

Ignore me just looked at Traveline, the bus station is now on Wood Road right outside train station. Will be easy peasy!

not sure - was told there is a leisure centre just up the road from the youth hostel but can't find any reference to it - as i don't know cardiff at all i have no idea what area it might be in!

maindy pool on crown way's a 15 min walk.

maybe that's it? expect youth hostel will knkow, just trying to be prepared

Bus information:
Bus numbers 28, 29 or 29B depart from St Marys Street just round corner from bus station during building works at bus station. Ask the driver to let you off at the bus stop for Wedal Road / Lake Road West (2 minutes walk to hostel). You will need the exact fare, single £1.30 or an all day any bus ticket £3.

Nearest pool, I'd say, is at Maindy Leisure Centre. Not sure what else is there.

Llanishen Leisure Centre is probably on a bus route from there and has all the usual stuff.

However, you're also near a fab park - Roath Park. Turn right out of the YHA, go left under the bridge, and right into the park.
