Any holiday village/centre parc type recommendations?

Just posting on the off chance.

Can anyone recommend good accommodation (4*, not 5)in a busy, interesting area with facilities such as a pool. Could be a hotel or holiday village type or s/c complex type thing.

Must be south of ABerdeen and north of Midlands/N Wales.

I go away with my mum and the kids and she likes this type of place. Centre parcs is very expensive in teh summer and a lot of people don't seem to rate it too highly in peak season.

Lake District?

ACtually, I've just seen a couple of quite good family friendly hotels there

Have you looked at the Hoseasons site?

They have lodges, villas, caravans etc all over the place on different types of complexes. Would recommend them.

ok, I'll browse hoseasons. I always imagine them to be the stuff of static caravans and I want better than that for this holidya. But I'll look before I judge

You're just a horrid snob aren't you

The places we have stayed are more like scaled down Center Parcs. Maybe a pool with scattered lodges around in woodland. Anyway they have a whole range to suit different tastes.

hey hey! I do all sorts of holidays from basic to 4* s/c. My mum wants something a bit more luxurious this year.

pointydog · 29/03/2009 17:42

Hmm. Methinks the lady doth protest too much...

Bluestone (Tilly's link) is on the Hoseasons site. I don't know if it is cheaper to through them or not.

pointydog · 29/03/2009 17:42

have you been there yourself?

Hi pointydog. Ribby Hall holiday village is in hoseasons brochure or you can book direct.
Really nice place with clean, spacious luxurious cottages overlooking a lake. Two swimming pools, horseriding, boating lake, loads for kids to do. It is situated about 8 miles out of Blackpool so do not know if it is in the right area for you but definetly worth a visit.

Yes - went to Bluestone last year. It was lovely - similar to Center Parcs but a bit less busy, a bit less of a rip off (in terms of food etc.) and near to a beach which was a bit of an essential for us

jollydiane · 29/03/2009 21:10

I love Tenby in Wales, if you like beach and spade holidays. Tenby has a lovely feel about it. We stayed here

pointydog · 29/03/2009 21:17

yes, gibba, I've been to ribby village with my mum. That's the sort of thing. Was good but want somewhere different this year
