Looking for somewhere for a relaxing weekend within a couple of hours of b'ham. Bit of spa, maybe some shopping, cinema and a couple of nice meals - any suggestions please? (middle of the road price-wise, but somewhere lovely - thanks!

Warwick and Litchfield are both really nice cities, close to Birmingham. Or Worcester?

Stratford upon Avon has some nice hotels, you could go to the theatre and there are loads of lovely restaurants

Or the Cotswolds, Oxford?

We've used Four Pillars hotels a few times for girly weekends. Not especially posh but pretty good value (I think we paid £112 per person for b&b and dinner for 2 nights). There is one within walking distance to Oxford city centre and they have spas etc.

Yes, we have stayed twice at the Four Pillars in Oxford. It has a gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The prices are very reasonable, I am sure they do good deals for two nights.

It is good hotel, and the evening meals are lovely. About a 10 min walk into Oxford city centre which is lovely.
