...that won't break the bank? Having a two day break but hotels Sun-Mon seem v pricey. Ideally, would like 2 rooms so that we don't end up sitting in the dark and whispering when boys are in bed. Any ideas? Thanks.

We stayed at the Travel lodge, with a 10 year old, 2 year old, 3 adults and one granny. It was 2 years ago, i can't remember now how we split the rooms. No character but it was clean and they did half price bookings online. We only stopped one night on our way to Aberdeen. But it was fine, affordable, no problems - but certainly not at all fancy.

Hotels in Aberdeen are really expensive during the week - Friday & Saturday nights are usually a lot cheaper. Will put on my thinking cap for you
