Sandy Balls - has anyone stayed in their Superior Lodges

I've just booked a week in the summer holidays to stay at Sandy Balls. We haven't been there before, but have booked a Sycamore superior lodge. Just wondering what they were like and any other tips for the park in general (food, restaurants etc).

Thanks

Hi - we didn't go superior, as we have dogs, but we were in a lodge. I thought it was lovely. Central heating was on when we arrived, so even in November it was lovely and snug. If you follow this link you can read my review on Trip Advisor

I have, stayed in lodge no. 215 in December, it was very comfortable. Towels are provided (but not pool towels). Dishwasher (not full size). TV & DVD player, CD player. Comfortable beds(!).

We ate in the Bistro once, but stopped by for hot chocolate many times. Didn't eat in the pub type place this time, but have before. Shop very adequate, but we got a Tesco delivery booked for the night we arrived. All staff bend over backwards to help and are very friendly. Certainly while we were there they had a few child activities during the day, but I guess if you are going in the summer holidays they will have a full programme on.

This is my favourite place to spend a winter break (been 4 times). However, how peaceful it will be in the summer holidays I'm not sure.

Any questions, just ask. Wish I was there now!

captainpig I loved it there too - how did you do the Tesco delivery? Sounds like pure genius

captainpig · 04/02/2009 22:42

I phoned and checked it would be OK for a Tesco delivery first. When I placed the Tesco grocery order I put in the Sandy Balls address starting with the lodge number.

By the way Minxie1977, they do have pet friendly superior lodges too, lodge numbers 158 to 162.

You went at a similar time as us - did you get the bargain break rate, we paid £149 for Mon to Fri, but alas no more as we will now be tied to school holidays.

Minxie1977 · 05/02/2009 11:51

Thanks for that captainpig. I think we paid slightly more than that!! Where did you find the bargain rate?

Minxie1977 if you look at the price list in the brochure, it is the "red letter dates", this year will be from 27 Nov 2009, and usually continues into January, excluding the xmas school holidays, any lodge for £149 mid week, £199 weekend or £250 whole week. They also have an offer on this year for 3 weeks of October.

wow, this thread sparked a load of nostalgia for me.

we used to go camping at sandy balls when I was a child.

I just googled it - it's a lot more upmarket than when we used to go with our little three man tent!

Sorry, not very helpful - but have fun.
