Wondered if anyone had been here, and if so, what did you think?

I'm looking for self catering accommodation in Northumberland for me, DP, DSDs (12 and 8) and baby DS.

TIA.

Sort of! We have DP's other kids over the Easter break, and thought we'd show them the delights of the North East!

Sounds grand! Sorry though, I havent been so not much help.

I stayed at Sandy Bay at Whitley Bay once - but it was about 20 years ago!

whinegums · 01/02/2009 11:50

Oh lord, wouldn't do Whitley Bay!!!!! Have posted another thread to see if anyone can help. How's you?

Oh yes - am from the ne myself and seriously you do not realise how lovely the area is until you go up to Bamburgh, Seahouses, Lindisfarne etc etc . Deffo not Whitley Bay though - go further north up to Seahouses - loadsa nice places to stay - cottages etc. Look on the tourist information centre website for Northumberland for lists of places.

mrsgboring · 01/02/2009 12:57

There is Waren Mill Caravan Park - has static caravans and is also open to tents and tourers. I haven't been there for many a long year (and we camped so no exp of the statics) but it's still getting good reviews here: www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2991

Lots on site to do, plus it's beautifully situated for Bamburgh/Seahouses visits.

geordieminx · 01/02/2009 15:54

Nope, not whitley!

Waren Mill is nice, although it depends where abouts you want to be - and what you want to be close to - I'm guessing dp's about tying the knot over the next year or 2 so are looking for places. You are in southside arent you?

whinegums · 01/02/2009 20:59

Lukesmammy - me too, am introducing the rest of the family to the delights of the NE coast - don't tell anyone else how lovely it is, we don't want them all packing it out!

Mrsboring, thanks for that.

GM - we want to be on the coast if possible, but we won't be there that much. Only going for a few days, and intend to go to Newcastle one day, Alnwick Garden another, and probably hook up with some friends too.

Yeah, I'm Sooside. Not sure if I understand you - you and your DP going to tie the knot?

God, I have just re-read what I wrote -no wonder you didnt understand me - brain working faster than my fingers. i think I must have deleted a bit of my post

Again -

Waren Mill is nice, although it depends where abouts you want to be - and what you want to be close to - I'm guessing dp's dd's will want a trip to the mecca that is the metro centre? Did you know metroland had been knocked down?

Dp and I are thinking of tying the knot over the next year or 2 so are looking for places/reception venues, which isnt easy when you have only lived here a few years. You are in southside arent you?

LaDiDaDi · 02/02/2009 00:21

Last year I went on a day spa trip to Shilbottle Farm and I'm sure that they had self-catering accommodation.

I will look for a link.

LaDiDaDi · 02/02/2009 00:22

what about this?

geordieminx · 02/02/2009 08:08

Oooh I went there for a spa day years ago - it was locely - looks even better now!!

whinegums · 02/02/2009 10:31

Looks fab Ladidadi, but fully booked over Easter, booo!

GM - ah, makes sense now! Congratulations! I know of a few people who got married in various places around Loch Lomond, one couple on the banks, and it all sounded lovely. Yeah, we're Southside, but can't think of anywhere round here.

No wonder you couldnt understand it - I couldnt!!

We have founda few places over here, mostly huge though, just looking for small!

Is there no way they could squeeze you in? Or reccomend somewhere else?
