We have done Butlins, Pontins and Haven and tbh I find them all a bit chavvy and not my sort of thing. John Fowler, Park Resorts and Parkdean sites look a bit smaller so I was wondering if these are better or are they still full of Vicky Pollards?

Would recommend Parkdean. We have been using them for 7 Years. We mainly go to St Minver (NR Rock) But have been to warmwell, Ruda, Challaborough and Cherry Tree (Norfolk) in the past. Going to Ruda then to St Minver this year. Entertainment excellent for children at St Minver (Esp Timbo's magic show!!!!) My children talk about it all year. Not noticed it to be too chavvy but then again have not been to Butlins or Pontins!

We like nodes point APrk resorts but we camp and don't use the entertainment much, use ot for the location which is rather great.

Lol some of them are really chavvy. We went to a john fowler place but I cant remember exactly where it was, I know it was close to the eden project.... it was a dump, not my idea of a holiday.

When are you looking to to away? There are some amazing deals on centre parcs atm if your going in term time. Look on the promo codes bit. char x

spookycharlotte was that Par? right by a beach?

GrimmaTheNome · 03/01/2009 18:28

John Fowler near penzance isn't chavvy...well, we avoided the bar, but its basically quite ok cottages in grounds of old house and theres and ok-ish swimming pool and no 'nightlife'.

Ruda Parkdean was very nice, but small

Wall Park was bigger but really shabby

We have used John Fowler's for the last 5 UK breaks as they are smaller, quieter etc. We've been to Coombe Martin (lovely but no indoor pool), Widemouth Bay, Tenby and Trelawn Manor and one more can't remember and we have stayed in the holiday cottages.

Would agree with CP we also go there once a year and love love love it and it is VERY civilised!!

We have used Parkdean holidays.

Trecco Bay is a very big site, but right on a lovely beach. There is a big clubhouse which has evening entertainment, but there is also a quiter bar which has quizzes, etc.

Pendine Sands is a nice site, much smaller but still with some entertainment.

We have also stayed at Sandford holiday park, but before it was owned by Parkdean. The site was ok, but it was quite a distance from the beach. We didn't think the facilities there were as good, accomodation was very basic, but that was when it was owned by weststar.

We would definately use parkdean again.

We have not been to butlins, but we have been to pontins and were very disappointed.
