Does anyone know any nice self catering places in Brighton for the summer?

And things to do with the DS aged 5.

Did a Haven Holiday in Yarmouth last year and I hated it. So looking for something a bit more cosmopolitan with nice places to have coffee and mooch around, plus beach and kiddy stuff within a 20 mile radius.

I don't mind staying in a caravan but the Haven one was filthy and stank of cigarettes and they just didn't seem to care, plus there were loud drunken arguments coming from the next cabin which were none to pleasant either.

Not quite Brighton but nearish,
[http://www.beachyhead.org.uk/holiday_cottages_info.html]

have stayed in the Chestnut Lodge, which was really nice, Fantastic views over the Downs from the living room and patio.

and in a village which has a wonderful deli and nice coffee shop and pub, also has a good play park and is close to a number of attractions,

is near some lovely beaches and beautiful countryside, but also has Eastbourne and Brighton nearby for a bit of the cosmopolitan atmosphere.
