Planning a trip next year to this area with my mum and DS. We are thinking of renting a cottage and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of where might be a good place to base ourselves. DS will be around 15 months and mum is 77 so not looking for anything too energetic, just nice villages/small towns to wander round, short strolls along a river or something, plenty of cafes and coffee shops and hopefully somethings to entertain DS too.
Anyone familiar with this region?
