Has anyone used a Lastminute.com 'secret' hotel?

just wondered really - I need a hotel near London's Victoria station next month, I don't want to pay a fortune but I don't want anywhere too grotty!!

I've seen the 'top secret' concept before but have never taken the plunge and just wondered if anyone had any experience.

Yes I have but I KNEW it was Threadneedles (5 star, The City) for £147 as it said "converted banking hall" which pretty much narrowed it down. You used to be able to tell from the reviews where it was but now you have to guess a bit more. Eg one I saw recently said "well known for larger than ave rooms and a restuarant with palms" or something similar and I'm fairly sure that would be The Landmark, so good value at £158 iirc for a Sat night.

But I select by star rating and would only go for 4 or 5 star, I don't think you can go too wrong with that. Also look on Laterooms, they're all named but some bargains.

Yes I stayed in Eustons Hilton for £50 about £200 less than usual!

me, it was fab. Five star hotel in Mayfair for about £80 and then we got upgraded to a mini suite.

I can often work out what hotel it is based on location and features.

I havent looked at lastminute.com for a while, but in the past it was pretty easy to work out what the "secret" hotel was, by looking at the others in the area, and seeing which descrptions matched (often it seemed that the description used for the secret was just cut and paste from the named listing.)

Yes and it has always worked out well. As others have said, you can often work it out and if you go for 4 or 5 star you won't go far wrong.
