Can you rent for 3 months?

My inlaws are planning on coming to the UK from overseas for 2 or 3 months and they want to rent a house/flat. I thought you had to rent for a minimum of 6 months because of some legal thing? - is this right or could they get somewhere for less time?

I'm not too sure but would suggest they try looking into house-sitting or a house swap maybe?

Thanks for the idea but definitely not something they'd do ("the whole world's on the con and out to steal our stuff"-type people). At least they're not expecting to stay with us ..... (or at least not yet )

Would they not even consider house sitting for someone else?

I think maybe you can rent apartments within hotels for longer periods if that would be a possibility?

Take it you don't want them at your house then

You can do holiday lets for shorter periods than six months best to look for letting agents who specialise in holiday lets/short term lets.
