please help me plan our trip to london

Me DH and the DC are in london soon,we are staying at a hotel on the finchley road.

the DC want to go on the london eye,which is fine,but we have to be at harley st in the afternoon.

so we are looking for somewhere nice to eat on the evening before,(will poss take DC on a drive around the landmarks etc as will be a sunday afternoon we arrive).

im not too sure but think the london eye isnt too far away from harley st,would we be able to walk,bearing in mind that DD is in a wheelchair or would we be better off driving or getting the tube,am totally clueless!!!!!

Make sure you book in advance for the Eye - cheaper online. And don't be put off by he queues when you get there. Actually they may well have special arrangements for wheelchairs.

You could drive, am presuming you'll have a blue badge? So won't gave to pay the congestion charge.

London Zoo is great and closer to Harley Street .

Why not eat in one of the restaurants on the South Bank, then you'll get a view of the river, Big Ben etc. There's a Giraffe there, Pizz Express, Wagamama etc.

sigh......... i booked the hotel on the finchley road cos the site i booked it on said it wasnt far from the london eye and i (mistakenly) thought that harley st was near to there as well.

now im thinking that i should change my hotel but am not sure where to,if i post our intinerary could someone suggest one or the area for me?

DC want to go on the london eye on monday,and DD,s appointment at harley st is at 3 in the afternoon,we arrive on the sunday and was just planning on eating out in the evening and driving through london to show them some sights,so from the hotel on the monday to the london eye and then from embankment (if ive got that right!!!) to harley st.

yes we do have blue badges for the DC so wouldnt have to pay congestion charge,i didnt realise that was the case so thats good.

Not sure why the Finchley Road is thought to be near the Eye - compared to Newcastle it is I suppose!

Don't know what your hotel budget is, but there's a Marriot (I think) on the Embankment next door to the London Eye.

The problem is that Harley St and the Eye are both CENTRAL London and that usually means BIG BUCKS for hotels. Although you might get a good rate somewhere for a Sunday night (it not being the day most businesspeople stay over)

have now booked the hotel which is just near to waterloo station,so we need to get from waterloo to harley street by 9.30am,as appointment has now changed.

dont think the tube is an option as dd would be in her wheelchair and not all stations are disabled friendly looking at the map,so would need to know what time we would have to leave waterloo by car to get to harley st for 9.30am,if anyone could advise.

Can you use a taxi - would solve parking problems at the Harley St end? You never know how long it will take to drive anywhere in Central London, so I would say half an hour - but you would need extra time if you had to find a (presumably disabled) parking space.

Try the buses - modern buses are supposed to be good for wheelchair access. I get them loads with buggy and, as long as they're not busy, they're not bad. You can get buses from Ox St down to near the Eye. You might think about a double decker bus tour which, I think, gives you unlimited travel on the route that takes in all the main sites for 24 hours. Have a good time.

jenk, if you need to get from waterloo to harley st by 9.30 its going to be peak rush hour, forget a bus. a black cab would be alot, probably £20 plus have you tried addison lee?
you could drive, probably half hour, theres plenty of ncp car parks. theres loads of people trying to get parking on harley st, i would try and park on upper regent st and walk across, 5 mins.

I would get a black cab and leave plenty of time (45min)then you don't have to worry about getting lost or on the wrong bus living here I still do this!
