Where to go in the Lake District

We're coming for a 4 night break in October while some work is being done to the house. DS will be 3 months old so we're thinking of a hotel with a reasonable restaurant or room service for the evenings so we can either eat in the room or have DS with us in his pram sleeping (or are Engligh licencing laws different to Scotland making that a no no?)

Fairly reasonable budget.

Have you been to the Lakes before? Any recommendations?

It depends what you want to do and how much you consider a reasonable budget?

this place is amazing but don't know how child friendly it is - been a good while since I was there and that was before children!
