I'm expecting our first baby in October and DH and I are desperate to have a quick weekend away beforehand...

need to get there within an hour/1.5hours by train (we don't have a car), preferably by the coast but to be honest so long as it's cheap and pretty, we can get a decent pub lunch and go for a few nice walks I don't care where it is....any suggestions at all?

Looked at Kent coast but weekend in question typically has works on the line booked so would take us twice as long to get home by bus!

we're in south london btw - thank you!

how about Brockenhurst in the New Forest, very pretty, lovely pubs, you can come in by train and then not need a car. (90 mins from Waterloo)

great B&B called The Cottage. www.cottagehotel.org

but there are others around.

2nd vote for the New Forest

Brighton?

that's a great idea...new forest, thank you

we looked at brighton but you have to book most places for tw nights over a weekend and at £100 a night we can't really justify it sadly, also most places are already booked

has anyone been to littlehampton?
