We had a lovely holiday on Mull a couple of years ago and it looks like there's a few places to stay on Barra. I quite fancy it.

Anyone been?

yes, my dad grew up there.
i reckon it's great if you get good weather.

DO you reckon we could spend a whole week there? DH mentioned doing a bit of 'hopping' up to the Uists, but I fancy just chilling (maybe literally!) out at the beach with the kids

probably no more than a week.
i was a kid when i went so i'm probably not going to be very useful here.
i'd have a backup plan in case of rain.

I have been - beautiful. Good walking and cycling. You can fly - the plane lands on the beach. The only flight in the world where the schedule is dependant on the tides.

yes, coolest airport ever.

Never thought about flying tbh. We'd need the car wouldn't we?

I've been. it is very beautiful if it's not rainning. But we spent a week in the Outer Hebrides, including Barra, in the most appallling weather, in August. It was a miserable holiday. one of the worst ever. And that was before children.

it is terribly weather dependent.

Barra is small, you could manage there without a car.
