New Forest - in the rain?

Can anyone recommend things to do in and around The New Forest if weather is pants? My sis wants to book a holiday cottage but her DH says its better to stay home and do day trips in case of bad weather! I think she really needs a break so would like some info to help change his mind!

Have you considered going to somewhere like Sandy Balls in the new forest and staying in a lodge. If it does rain they have indoor swimming, soft play for little ones, table tennis for older kids, bistro and restaurant, plus other organised activities. I have been twice and third trip is already booked.
