ok, this is a mite embarrassing as I have lived here from aeons, but which beaches near London are sandy?

we often go to Brighton, but fancy a change, and I wondered if there's anything quicker to get to than Broadstairs (no car, btw).

thanks.

Which side? From the south, Hayling island is 1 hour down the A3.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 20/08/2008 15:44

And West Wittering, 1 hour, turn off A3 @ Hindhead

Camber Sands

Probably not quicker than Broadstairs though - sorry, only just read op properly - Camber Sands isn't much good without a car.

Dropdeadfred · 20/08/2008 15:47

Dymchurch?

Rye has a station - don't know if there is a regular bus from Rye to Camber....

Blu · 20/08/2008 15:47

And it's freezing cold and threatening rain...

Portmouth (has a sandy beach (Southsea) I think, though probably more like 1.5 hrs to get there than 1 hr.

Apparantly Littlehampton beach is only 10 mins walk from the station, although mostly shingle unless it is low tide.
