Going away for bank holiday? When are you leaving?

Heading from Bristol to Cornwall this bank holiday weekend - but hoping to avoid getting stuck in queues (we have an 18mo who gets loud when the car is stationary and only naps for 45 mins or so). Any thoughts on the best time to travel? I'm thinking Friday morning back Monday morning ...

Going camping in the cotswolds on friday. Probably piss down, nothing unusual there then.

the forecast is better towards the end of the week...

going camping in the midlands (from wirral) am leaving friday 2.00pm ish.

Tbh I am not expecting much traffic the route we are going, but you never know!

When we used to travel to Cornwall from Swindon the traffic was always horrendous at bristol, so would be worth you trying to join M5 further down?

Yes, am thinking I may have chosen bad time to head off - but this is only weekend MIL, who we're visiting, could do. I think an early start on Friday may be the answer. Are schools back yet? that might delay some getaways?
