Suggestions for short stay accommodation in North Devon

Will be in Devon the last week in August visiting family and have decided to have a couple of extra days in North devon (we'll be staying with family in South Devon beforehand). I realise that it might be a bit late in the day to find somwhere but would like 3 nights accommodation for family of 4 - self catering would be good but will consider hotel (not b&b or guest house). Don't have a massive budget as it's a last minute decision but won't want to camp....am I asking too much ?

Tricky for a short break in August I think. But we stayed at the Thatched Cottage in Putsborough last time we went, which was lovely, and it looks like it might be available for that week, but don't know whether they would do it for just 3 nights.

Otherwise would try Croyde maybe - think they have lots of apartments aimed at surfers so might do short stays.

You can sometimes get late deals with:

We've stayed at 2 of their parks, and the caravans are ok. I wouldn't recommend the budget caravans though, they can occasionally smell a bit mildewy
