What is there to do in Brighton next week? We’ve just booked a last minute couple of days away and plumped for Brighton as we’ve never been there.
we’ll have a car so can travel for something interesting.

Nothing. Nothing to do

KnickerlessParsons · 27/10/2026 22:51

I don’t believe that for a minute!

An upside down house. Boat trips. Cool shops in the North Lanes. A wheel.

ThisGladGoose · 27/10/2026 22:56

Who is visiting and what kind of things do they enjoy?

KnickerlessParsons · 27/10/2026 22:56

An upside down house sounds interesting. Will look that up. Ditto boat trips, though that’ll depend on the weather next week!

Brighton is a dump. The most rude people I have ever met.

LesLavandes · 27/10/2026 22:57

Theatres, concerts, great food scene

SilenceInside · 27/10/2026 23:00

The i360 - it’s not cheap but the view is amazing assuming the weather is in your favour.

The Upside Down house - again a bit pricey but it’s an option.

Brighton Museum, Brighton Pavilion of course.

I would have said the Booth museum but it’s temporarily closed for renovations.

if you don’t mind a drive, Lewes is a lovely town. Also Ditchling might be nice.

SilenceInside · 27/10/2026 23:00

The Wheel is not there anymore.

SilenceInside · 27/10/2026 23:03

The North Laine area has lots of independent and interesting shops, there’s the Open Market off London Road too although London Road itself is a bit scruffy.

roycroppersshopper · 27/10/2026 23:04

Loads of restaurants, pubs and bars, shopping, Royal Pavilion, Brighton Museum, theatre, gigs, cinema, pier, i360, marina, zip wire, 5 parkruns, beach sauna, Soho House spa, volleyball, tennis and padel courts, electric bikes/scooters for hire, crazy golf.

Outside of the city - Devils Dyke, south downs, Drusillas Zoo, Middle Farm, Lewes, Jack and Jill windmills and Ditchling Beacon.

louderthan · 27/10/2026 23:06

Pavilion, art gallery and museum, the weather looks ok so a wander along the pier is a must! Lots of little galleries down in the arches on the seafront, also the fishing museum (open weather permitting). You could drive over to Lewes for the castle, Ann of Cleeves House, lots of good charity shops, Harvey’s brewery.
Lots of pretty little villages with great pubs in the surrounding countryside; some favourites of mine are Firle, Alfriston, Ditchling and Rodmell.
If you like walking you could go up to Seven Sisters/Cuckmere Haven for amazing views.

KnickerlessParsons · 27/10/2026 23:07

Loads of ideas. Thank you everybody.

We regularly do a day trip to Brighton. We manage to fill our day just fine.

The pier and arcades, walking on the beach, walking around the Laines, eating at the numerous restaurants and cafes etc.

If I had longer I would definitely do the Royal Pavilion.

SilenceInside · 27/10/2026 23:09

If the weather is ok you can walk from Brighton Pier along the sea front on the beach walkway all the way to the marina alongside the electric Volks railway line. The Volks is closed for the off season atm. There’s a nice cafe called the Reading Room just before the marina.

SummerInSun · 27/10/2026 23:11

Definitely the Royal Pavilion. Most bonkers building ever!

Brighton is a dump. The most rude people I have ever met.

I've lived in Brighton for nearly 40 years and agree it's unfriendly, cliquey, and altogether pretty silly. But for a weekend visit the seafront has bars and cafes and a playground, the lanes and North Laine are worth a look if you like shopping, the Pavillion is worth a visit if that's your thing . Have a lovely break

It’s on the list.

There is lots to do but parking is expensive

Eifla2o18 · 28/10/2026 09:35

Toy museum - good for kids and nostalgic adults.

LIZS · 28/10/2026 10:03

If weather is decent walk from Palace Pier to Rottingdean along the seafront. Or to Hove Lagoon the other way.

Truinio · 28/10/2026 10:16

Great music scene and lots of cool pubs and bars with live music. My favourite is the Hope and Ruin. Caroline of Brunswick, the Pipeline, the Hobgoblin are great too.

TheDogsMother · 28/10/2026 10:58

For more reasonably priced parking go to the Norton Road car park in Hove, pick up a coffee from Fika Nextdoor then head to the seafront to walk all the way in. There are loads of interesting things down there including i360, upside down house, independent shops, cafes etc. You could walk back via Western Road where there are loads of great restaurants and fabulous Taj supermarket. There are so many restaurants to choose from but Lavash in the Lanes, not the North St one, is great and well priced. If the weather is nice you can sit at a table outside and people watch. Have fun.

KnickerlessParsons · 28/10/2026 15:05

Thank you.

The Museum of Creativity was my favourite thing when I visited Brighton... And The Long Man of Wilmington (not actually in Brighton, but really nearby).
