Any Mumsnetters from this area or know this area well. Want opinions on it as its possible we might be relocating there or near there. Schools, nurseries, stuff to do, friendliness of locals, etc. We have a 2 and a half year old son. I know nothing about the area except it looks pretty!

Have you checked out [http://www.netmums.com/ NetMums] for whats on in the area?

We know the forest of dean quite well and all the people that we have met have been pretty friendly. No personal experiance of Mum stuff to do though.

Good luck, it's a beautiful part of the world.

We used to live at the north end of the Forest - in a village called Drybrook. Often went down through Tintern - lovely area. Still have friends there but just can't manage to get there as often as we like. It depend son what you like - there are bigger towns around and lots of intersting villages and houses in odd locations / places where you can touch the roof outside standing up and massive 3 storeys on another side!! Good luck - we moved though partly for job and also partly 'cos you do end up driving quite a bit to get around.

Turned on the TV earlier and there was a program about the Wye Valley; looked absolutely stunning.

No knowledge of schools in Tintern

Lots to do in Chepstow/Monmouth, for example whirlikidz fantastic soft play

Whitestone, a FC reserve between Llandogo and Trellech is a wonderful place for picnics and walks, a fave haunt of mine although I live a fair distance away.
