glasgow recently introduced £2 bus fare which is great! So i decided to ditch the bike & get the bus fantastic service very easy app BUT the the 2 things that pissed me off was 1st arseholes who have hugh haversacks and don't take them off they back and getting to thier seat smash people in the FACE twice i had to take avoiding action!!! 2nd arseholes who push the button to alert the driver they want off even though it has been pressed & 4 people standing waiting to get off also it CLEARLY shows in BRIGHT letters bus stopping!!!!!

First point, totally reasonable.

Second point, bizarrely over-angry.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/09/2026 19:50

1st point - there is a special place in hell waiting for these people, although I’d also be in favour of instant electrocution

2nd point - as above

The thing that really, really fucking annoys me is when people stand up at the front of the bus even though there are seats. Stupid bleeding wazzocks.

you'd be 😠😠😠 if you got a bang in the face WITHOUT an apology! i felt like saying to arsehole what he was doing but no doubt i'd be reported to driver & the bus police would come a knocking!!! tell me do U travel on buses???

Nothing to do with the buses but I haven't heard the word havesack for decades 😁
I'm not picturing something you wear on your back though, is there a more modern version?

MiddleAgedDread · 09/09/2026 07:29

I think you should stick to cycling

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/09/2026 07:35

Same on the underground ( London not Glasgow) this bloke had a behemoth rucksack on his back , kept turning round to talk to his girlfriend and each time I got whapped . Not just the bag itself but all the extra hanging on bits like his water bottle, his kagoule. I lost my pieces with him ( which is something you need to consider before you do in the close confines of a busy tube carriage) but I could get away from him quicker. He mumbled an apology and wedge his daft bag to the wall .

Thesearenotthedroids · 09/09/2026 07:35

But there is nothing more satisfying than pressing a button and if you've withheld from randomly pressing it and have waited and waited for your turn to press the glorious button then you're going to press it even if others got in their first. Ding!

Why on earth didn’t you say something? You’re clearly upset. Of course the driver wouldn’t have sided with the person who banged toy in the face. You need to speak up or calm down.

isitfridayyetttt · 09/09/2026 09:01

Are you new to earth? People have been this inconsiderate for a while

tartanhaggis7 · 09/09/2026 22:51

I agree that 1 is horrible but it's a long-standing problem, and of course not just in Glasgow (not that you suggested that it was specific). I assume people think the trouble of taking off their packs and putting them on again outweighs the discomfort of and potential risk to others. Bus lines COULD require people to take them off before boarding, just as many shops and museums do.

I'm not understanding the issue with 2, though - if the driver's already aware and the stop marked, is someone asking for it again out of habit or inattention or not understanding how these specific buses work or just to be sure really an problem? You probably get an extra "bing" and the light flicks momentarily, but no real harm done as far as I can see.

Tends to work.😄

tartanhaggis7 · 10/09/2026 14:05

yeah its not a big thing with me but i do feel like saying why press the bell the driver has been alerted! .could also be normally travelling home after 12 hr shift so bloody tired!!!😥

DearlyDiego · 10/09/2026 14:17

Why are you so far up their arse that you're getting hit in the face with their bag when they turn into their seat? Sounds like Problem #1 would be solved by you giving people some space.

Problem #2 is absurd. You care this strongly that someone pushes a button?

As PP say, stick to cycling.

YANBU. I have heard that drivers get sick of the dinging in their ears all day. It's BU to press it if it clearly says Bus Stopping.

I think you might benefit from some self reflection on why such a tiny experience has left you so enraged and abrasive on an anonymous forum.

If self reflection doesn't work, and you claim not to need a biscuit...might I suggest medication?

Sidebeforeself · 10/09/2026 14:49

I’d ask for my money back from Charm School if I were you!

IglesiasPiggl · 10/09/2026 14:49

On the tube in London recently they made announcements asking people to take off their backpacks, so there's a bit of progress! We also have some new buses where if the button has already been pressed and the light is lit, it doesn't make a sound if someone presses it again. Sadly only a few of these though.

Cotopaxi · 10/09/2026 14:56

I once remember an encounter on a busy London Underground train during the rush hour with standing-room only. There was a bunch of about 20 giant blonde men of Swedish appearance, all of whom had massive haversacks. It was not a pleasurable experience.

AlexandraCarrington · 10/09/2026 14:58

The thing that really, really fucking annoys me is when people stand up at the front of the bus even though there are seats. Stupid bleeding wazzocks.

I had this the other day. Had to push my way past them. And two were wearing backpacks, so taking up even more space.

I think I may have rung the bell when someone had already rung it, but from where I was sitting I couldn't see the display (due to aforementioned people standing who were blocking my view) so I rang it myself to be sure.
